It was a blast using all of the new Isaac Mizrahi Yarn to create a mini New York City for a stop motion ad for Michaels! On top of it all, I got to meet him last week because I was recruited to "yarn bomb" his chair - too cool!
I am working on a mural on Bedford Ave. It is on a fence in front of the construction site for starbucks and it is happening now through middle of november. This week the mural calls for a whale, so I made one.
@Yarnbombs is making another huge collaborative piece with donations from people all over the world. The deadline is Sept. 30th, so I figured I would make another whale.
This morning I laid out my two whales to measure them, and then shipped one out to Santa Barbara CA.
It was such a beautiful day in NYC. I was planning on adding this shirt to the mural under the BQE but it had been taken down. Damn. I found a beautiful spot on the water though for my New York City Pride to shine bright like a diamond. I got a message from the person who ended up taking this gem of a t shirt home. He was kind enough to inform me that in his drunk stopper he could not help but take my crocheted NY Tee. It is okay, I like it when my work goes to someone who will appreciate it for years to come.
Fun times in central park! I got to go up to Strawberry Fields with a little crew and place flowers on john lennon's memorial. it was divine. No one has done this gentle tradition in a long time so the musician and locals were very happy. Video coming soon...
I got to take a break and got a little R&R this 4th of July. Hopped on a plane to Louisiana and I crocheted a flag the whole way! I felt like a modern day Betsy Ross, and that is why I decided to make an old school 13 star flag. It is massive in size and soft to the touch. Being out in the middle of nowhere was a first. I drank beer in a blow up pool, set fire to a lantern, and got to hold a gun...YAAAS
I want to learn the Louisiana Bunny Hop. Teach me please.
This may be my favorite of all time! I have added to my yarn bomb on Metropolitan Ave. because it is still up and going strong after 2 weeks. The location is on, yet off the beaten path, so it gets a lot of foot traffic! I want to continue to add to it all summer. This shows off the power of love :)
